In the dynamic Filipino pop culture of today, few names resonate as powerfully as BINI.

The girl group consists of eight talented members—Jhoanna, Stacey, Aiah, Mikha, Maloi, Colet, Sheena, and Gwen.

It was formed in 2020 through the Star Hunt Academy (SHA), an artists' training ground for ABS-CBN.

The year 2020 was a hardship year, and would go on for the next two years with only limited relief. This was when the devastating COVID-19 was officially declared a threat to the world, upending the way people did things, separating peoples, and unsettling businesses, including the entertainment industry.

BINI thus struggled, like everyone else. But, it survived. And in the end, it did more than that—it thrived.

The industry now sees its rise as meteoric. Driven by hit tracks like "Patropiko," "Karera," "Lagi," "Huwag Muna Tayong Umuwi," "Cherry On Top," and "Salamin, Salamin," to name a few, BINI captured the taste of a new young generation.

Over the years, BINI has shown, too, that its influence extends beyond music. Its members have engaged in various projects highlighting their versatility and appeal.

In September 2024, they starred in the iWantTFC docuseries Chapter 1: Born to Win.

The series showcased their journey as they faced the challenges that every girl and boy band anywhere faces: personal differences, creative conflicts, the demands of training and discipline, and the climb through a cutthroat industry.

Well received, the docuseries boosted the BINI girls' status as relatable and inspiring figures.

BINI members have since been leveraging their platform to show support for causes they're passionate about.

In May 2024, they demonstrated their commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community at an event featuring local drag queens.

During the event held in Quezon City, main vocalist Maloi Recalde thanked the LGBTQIA+ community with no ifs or buts: "Mabuhay ang mga bakla! Thank you so much sa pagmamahal na binigay niyo sa BINI."

As Jhoanna, the group's leader, shared, "Ever since naman yung nag-start kami maging BINI, tumutulong na talaga kami sa family namin.

They are embracing this change with gratitude, she says.
