Former Girltrends member Riva Quenery, 23, and boyfriend Vern Flores Ong, 26, are now parents to a healthy baby girl.
In her Instagram post dated October 18, 2021, Riva revealed she gave birth to Baby Athena Rae last October 12, 2021, Tuesday.
Through a vlog on YouTube, the Star Magic talent shared more details about her delivery via cesarean section at the St. Luke's Medical Center - Global City.
In the video, she said, "Tawa-tawa lang ako kahapon pero ganito pala magkaroon ng contractions.
"Bali 5 a.m., nakarating kami dito in-I.E. [internal examination] nila ako. 5 c.m. na daw ako nung time na yun kaya pala sobrang sakit na talaga. Di ba 5 a.m., 5 c.m.
"Nung nag-9 a.m. naman, chineck ako, 8 c.m. na ako agad. Hindi ko in-expect na ganun kabilis yung progress ng c.m. ko. Nung nag-8 c.m. na ako, my water broke.
"Sabi ko, 'oh my gosh, ito na ba yun?'"
Riva was supposed to have a normal delivery, but her doctor had to do an emergency CS operation because her baby wouldn't come out.
The couple's celebrity friends left their congratulatory messages in the comments section of Riva's post.
Among them were Kathryn Bernardo, Awra Briguela, Nikko Natividad, Jackie Gonzaga, Chito Miranda, Phamela Swing, Arlene Muhlach, Vina Morales, Sue Ramirez, and Maris Racal.
Riva and Vern first announced their pregnancy through their social media accounts last May 16, 2021.
On May 30, 2021, the couple revealed they were having a baby girl.
Riva and Vern have been together for two years. They celebrated their second anniversary in April 2021.
