This surrounds Frankie Pangilinan and the man seen beside her in recent posts.
Frankie was born into a family that threads through Philippine entertainment and public service.
She is the daughter of the Megastar, Sharon Cuneta, whose career and stature sit with the greats of Philippine showbiz.
Her father is Kiko Pangilinan, a former senator with a legislative record for championing farmers through the Sagip Saka Act, and pushing policies on education, labor, and social welfare.
Frankie’s lineage places her in rare company, so when she was spotted with a man, curiosity grew with every new detail about the person behind the headlines.

EARLY LIFE
Name, Birthday, Age
Daniel Santamaria Laurel, nicknamed Dan, was born on May 5, 1997—a Taurus by birth, and also a Cinco de Mayo baby.
In fact, as one of his brothers once joked in a birthday greeting, the annual celebrations would not feel complete without marking both occasions at once with a shindig.
As of this writing, he is 28 years old and is set to turn 29 in less than a month.
Hometown
Dan traces his roots to Tanauan, Batangas, as indicated on his Facebook profile.
While his family home remains in Tanauan, he has spent recent years in Metro Manila for both his college education and professional pursuits.

Family
Dan comes from three prominent Old Manila families: the Laurels, the Rufinos, and the Santamarias, whose influence spans politics, business, sports, and the arts.
On his paternal side, he belongs to the Laurel family, a political dynasty tied to the third Philippine President and only President of the Second Philippine Republic, Jose P. Laurel.
Dan’s father, Arsenio Laurel, is the son of champion race car driver Arsenio “Dodjie” Laurel, the youngest of the former president’s nine children.
Dodjie later made history as the first two-time winner of the Macau Grand Prix in 1962 and 1963, before his untimely death through a fatal crash during the 1967 Macau Grand Prix.
Arsenic Laurel pursued business while maintaining a strong presence in the sports community.
In a birthday greeting published by Inquirer Golf on April 1, 2026, he was identified as a director of Manila Golf Club, treasurer and director of the Federation of Golf Clubs Philippines, Inc., and founder of the Philippine Intercollegiate Golf Series.
Arsenic’s mother and Dan’s paternal grandmother, Maria Paz Rufino, is meanwhile related to the Rufinos who founded the Philippine Daily Inquirer, and developed landmark real estate.
On his mother Crispy Santamaria’s side, Dan inherits a rich artistic lineage.
His maternal grandmother, Ingrid Sala Santamaria, is regarded as one of the country’s most accomplished pianists.
According to a PhilStar Global article published on June 8, 2005, Ingrid performed internationally with the Beijing and Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestras, and gave recitals across Europe and Asia.
Beyond performance, Ingrid played a key role in establishing the Cebu Symphony Orchestra, now known as the Peace Philharmonic Philippines, which has since earned national recognition.
Ingrid’s accolades include a Hall of Fame award from the Crestwood Performing Arts League in Florida and recognition as a Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International.
Ingrid has also been nominated to become a National Artist in recent years.
Crispy carried forward this artistic presence into the fashion world as a professional model in the 1980s.
It was through modeling—particularly in shows by renowned Filipino designer Jose Pitoy Moreno—that she met Arsenic Laurel.
A Philippine Star tribute to Pitoy published on January 15, 2018, recounted how the two, once paired as bridal finale models in fashion shows, eventually became a real-life couple with the late designer’s blessing.
Together, Arsenic and Crispy built a close-knit family with their five children.

In 2012, Inquirer.net featured memorabilia in Ingrid Santamaria’s home, which included portraits of Arsenio and Crispy’s children: Jay, Matt, Carlos, Daniel, and Mia.
Among Dan’s siblings, Matt Laurel pursued athletics at the national level, becoming a member of the Philippine baseball team at just 17 years old.
Another brother, Carlos Laurel, has since dipped his toes in political waters, currently serving as a councilor in Tanauan.
In showbiz, the Santamaria-Laurel siblings are second cousins of actress-singer Denise Laurel, and are relatives of TV personality and socialite Tessa Prieto.
In the pageant scene, they are cousins of Reina Hispanoamericana PH 2022 Sam Santamaria—and, by extension, related to PBA player Joey Santamaria, Sam’s father.
EDUCATION

Outside the field, Dan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business/Corporate Communications.
He began his studies in Ateneo in 2017 and graduated in 2021.
In that span, he gained early industry experience as an intern of the Project Management team at VAR Buildings, Inc.—a company within the property development portfolio associated with the Rufino family.
Before college, Dan completed his secondary education at Brent International School Manila, where he undertook the International Baccalaureate program.
CAREER
Following his university years, Dan’s professional path shows a mix of self-endeavor and involvement in long-established family-linked enterprises across real estate, finance, and holdings.
In June 2021, he founded Hyre Solutions Inc., an early-stage e-commerce startup based in Metro Manila.
As founder and chief executive officer, Dan leads the company’s vision of bridging the gap between customers and service providers in the Philippines.
Since its establishment, he has overseen operations, customer acquisition strategies, and overall business development, positioning Hyre as a growing digital platform in the local service economy.

Alongside his entrepreneurial venture, Dan has been serving as Director of Development at Laurel Hill Enterprises & Development Corporation since June 2020.
The company, which is part of the Laurel family’s business portfolio, focuses on property development in Tanauan.
In this role, he is involved in project planning, development strategies, and expanding the company’s footprint within the region’s real estate sector.
Dan also holds the role of Treasurer at Santala Holdings Incorporated, a family-owned holdings company managing a portfolio of commercial and residential properties.
He has been part of the organization since May 2017, contributing to financial oversight and asset management across its various properties.
Earlier in his career, he gained experience in the financial sector as a stock analyst apprentice at Larrgo Securities Company Inc. from May to July 2018.
The firm is among the entities connected to the Rufino family’s business interests, further tying into his paternal lineage.
During his stint, he was exposed to market analysis, trading insights, and the fundamentals of securities work.

PERSONAL LIFE
Daniel’s Rumored Relationship with Frankie Pangilinan
Dan has recently been linked to Frankie Pangilinan—professionally a writer and singer under the name Kakie—following a series of social media posts that ignited speculation among netizens.
In an April 11, 2026 report by PEP.ph, Frankie shared photos from a beach getaway with friends.
One particular image drew attention, as she was seen standing closely beside a man, prompting followers to speculate about his identity and their relationship.
The intrigue was further fueled in the comments section.
Her sister, Miel Pangilinan, referred to the pair as “Ate and Kuya,” to which Frankie replied, “and Yeyepot,” a playful exchange that did little to dispel curiosity.
When directly asked by a netizen if the man was her boyfriend, Frankie responded jokingly, “hindi po, premyo ko lang po sa Family Feud,” referencing her recent appearance on the GMA-7 game show hosted by Dingdong Dantes.

However, further comments added to the rumor.
One user, who claimed to have “matched” the two, wrote, “The best matchmaking I’ve ever done,” to which Frankie replied, “truly your finest work in my opinion.”
Earlier, on Valentine’s Day, Frankie also posted a photo with the same man. Online discussions, including those on Reddit, identified him as Dan Laurel.
This was seemingly reinforced when a friend tagged a private Instagram account believed to belong to him.
At press time, neither Daniel Laurel nor Frankie Pangilinan has publicly confirmed the nature of their relationship.
